January has ended and many of us are still struggling with our new year's resolutions and goals. If you are anything like me, you are barely hanging on. Hats off to those who can skilfully pursue their goals and persist into the second month of February, still motivated, and inspired to continue. 43% of people expect to give up their goal after just one month, 80% of people fail to keep up their resolutions by February.  

The start of a new year brings a sense of renewal and optimism, as individuals embrace the opportunity for a fresh start. Many individuals set New Year's resolutions, such as improving their physical fitness, pursuing a healthier lifestyle, or seeking new career opportunities. The holiday season has ended, and it's time to shift back into work mode. Practically speaking, companies carefully plan their yearly budgets and headcount to ensure they are well-prepared to interview candidates and make new hires. At the close of December, businesses have conducted their annual reviews and performance evaluations. Workers make their own decisions based on the outcomes, either choosing to stay or feeling compelled to leave rather than waiting to be fired.

February is considered one of the best months to apply for a new role, it may be the rainy month of the year certainly where I live but a perfect opportunity to stay motivated and look for that new role and here is why.  February presents a favourable opportunity to delve into fresh job prospects for a variety of reasons: Companies are preparing for the new year by updating their budgets and sales forecasts. The clarity of this information enables HR managers to easily identify the positions they need to fill and accurately assess the number of new hires they can accommodate.

Postponed hiring in November and December can often result in delays, causing a backlog of new roles that HR managers must post. There is a noticeable increase in job postings during the months of January and February.

Hiring in Full Swing: With the holiday season behind us, workers have returned to the office and companies are actively seeking new talent. Job listings posted in January typically attract a substantial pool of candidates by February, prompting employers to arrange interviews and make new hires.

No upcoming holidays on the horizon. People tend to be more productive when they prioritise getting enough rest. According to research, there has been a significant 80% boost in performance after individuals take a holiday, such as the recently concluded Christmas and New Year holidays.

They are also easily accessible to review applications, conduct interviews, and make hiring decisions without any interruptions caused by holidays. This period experiences a surge in hiring activities as companies begin implementing their strategic plans and allocating budgets for new hires.

This, in turn, has a positive effect on the job market.
